seven dollars..

Ever wonder just how much a human life is worth? Its ironic how it can rise n fall depending on ones’ stand on the social ladder… a Nepali girl in her mid twenties lie in a hospital bed, distraught parents by her side, praying for a miracle… doctors say that there is little chance of her surviving…

She worked as a housemaid and tried to take her life after getting busted for pinching off 500 nepali rupees (approximately 7 USDs) from the house she worked. Its distressing that a girl is driven to attempt suicide over 7 us dollars, while another girl somewhere else wouldn’t even think twice about spending the same amount or more on something totally useless!

I am not in any way trying to justify her pinching, but I don’t think what she did in any way warrants death! Having seen just how dire life can be for the less fortunate people in this war torn country… I can understand why she might have been driven to steal…

Any ways.. I’ll stop my blabbering… life can be cruel sometimes… 7 dollars!! is that the worth of her life?
