Day 9: another day on a train...

The shrill voice of the chai wala roused me from a deep slumber; it was barely morning! From my perch on the top bunk I could see the shroud of mist that had cloaked the train for the night receding, revealing fields of cotton n maize glistening in the early morning sun. We passed over rivers n plateaus; seeing diversity which made India so incredible. Diversity wasn’t only in landscape; with every station we stop at, the language, culture and food seem to change drastically too!

Breakfast was a simple affair; egg pau (sort of an egg burger) n tea… the rest of the day whizzed past in a whirlwind of activity n idling; getting down at stations, running to catch the train, n moments spent near the doorway, gazing at the passing scenery, trying to commit each n every place to memory…

a lone tree, a rainbow n Sharma ji were what I found in the doorway in the evening… lets just say he was the last person i expected to find there; mesmerized by the passing scenery… that got me thinking, though we’ve spent over two years in the same class, just how much do we really know each other? Not much, that’s for sure!
